Kidsport & Jumpstart Funding

Kidsport Edmonton

KidSport provides funding grants to kids from families facing financial barriers so they can participate in registered sport programs and experience the lifelong benefits that sport provides. This is done through a qualifying application process that subsidizes sport registration fees for KidSport kids.

Between Jan 1, 2024, to Dec 31, 2024 eligible families can receive up to $250 max per kid in grant funding. 

Jumpstart

Sometimes, families need financial assistance to get their kids into a sport or physical activity. Jumpstart is committed to helping all families access a range of sports and activities.

To be eligible for funding for one or more children, families must first meet specific financial criteria as per Revenue Canada’s Low-Income Cut-Offs (LICO) chart. In addition, children must fall between the ages of 4 - 18 years old and must be registered in a sustained programs that involve a sport or physical activity. Programs should be a minimum of five weeks in duration and include at least one session per week. In the case of sports camps, the program must last at least five consecutive days for consideration.

The Individual Child Grant system is scheduled to open on January 29th, 2024.

Due to the lengthy approval times for JumpStart funding, an approval should be in place prior to start of the season.

Once you have completed the application, you will need to supply the Registrar with the registration ID you receive Proof or confirmation that an application is required to be submitted to the registrar or else your registration will be cancelled

Our goal is not to turn youth athletes away because they cannot afford the registration. If your Jumpstart or Kidsport funding is not approved, please reach out to our registrar so we can work with you and your athlete.
