We are going into the last week of spring camp. Spring camp is at Terwillegar South Park field, 7134 South Terwillegar Dr NW.
Practice starts at 6:30PM sharp. You need to be in equipment, ready to go at that time. Please give yourself enough time to get in equipment and be ready. There are no change facilities at the field, most players come wearing their bottom half and slip the shoulder pads and helmet on at the field. Practice ends at 8:30pm for the Bantam and Peewee teams and at 8:00 for the Atom team. The final dates for spring camp this year are June 21 and 23.
As well as bringing your equipment, please bring water with you. There is no water on site (as far as we know). Also if you need sunscreen and insect repellent bring that as well.
Football is played and practiced in just about any weather. There are two circumstances when we cannot practice:
1) when there is active lightning in the area and
2) when the City has closed the fields, usually because they are too wet and play would damage the turf.
For scenario 1 remember we are in peak thunderstorm season. Practice may need to be cancelled or cut short with little notice. We always encourage you to stick around and watch practice, but if you have to leave, keep an eye on any active weather, we may have to cut practice short. Please have a plan to pick up your player if that should happen.
For scenario 2, the city will declare by 4:00pm if the fields are closed. It is sometimes hard to predict if it will happen or not, but if there is extended rain all day it is likely.
Registration is still open, for Peewee and Atom. We have paused Bantam registration with the large number of registrations. If you would like to be on the waitlist for the Bantam team please contact us, as often space opens up. Please see the Registration information page, for information on the process of registering and explanation of fees. Then carry on to the Registration portal.
We have teams in each of the 3 tackle divisions, Atom Peewee, and Bantam. Atom is for children who are 9 and 10 (2012 and 2013 birth years). Peewee is for 11 and 12 year old's (2010 and 2011 birth years) and Bantam for 13, 14 and possibly 15 year old's (2007* 2008 and 2009 birth years). Fifteen year old's (2007's) can only play Bantam if they will be starting grade 9 in September of 2022. Anyone starting in High school (grade 10) in September of 2022 is not eligible for Bantam.
Main Camp starts in August. The main session of practice starts at the beginning of August and runs 3 nights a week, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays. This will continue to the end of the season in late October, or November. Main camp practices will be at DS McKenzie Field.
