Starting in 2024, the CDMFA will be utilizing age categories for each level of play. All teams are Co-Ed and provide equal opportunities for all genders. For 2024 we are taking registrations for the following divisions:

U11 (Atom) - 6 vs 6 (ages 8 through 10)

U13 (Peewee) - 9 vs 9 (ages 11 & 12)

U16  (Bantam)- 12 vs 12 (ages 13 through 15. Youth born 2009 are only eligible if they will be attending Grade 9 in the fall of 2024)

Players will be required to provide government issued proof of age at equipment handout for visual verification by a SWEMFA official.  U16 players will also need to provide proof of school grade at equipment hand out. The Capital District Minor Football Association (CDMFA) reserves the right to perform spot checks of players proof of age and grade.   These documents must be made available to the league upon request.

Pre Season Spring Practices: Pre-season spring practices are scheduled for June 4 - 20 at Confederations Sports Fields. There will be 2 practices per week held on weekday evenings. Practice dates and times are shown on each team’s webpage. Week 1 practices will be no equipment, Week 2 practices will be helmets and shoulder pads and Week 3 Full equipment.

Regular Season Practices: There are no practices in the month of July as mandated by Football Alberta and CDMFA. Regular Season practices will be three evenings per week starting the first week of August at Confederations Sports Fields. Final days and times for practices are being confirmed.

League Games: Regular season games may take place on Friday evening (Friday Night Lights) or Saturday or Sunday days starting at the end of August until the end of October. Playoff games take place at the end of October and into November. Game locations are set by the league and take place in the City as well as in Sherwood Park, St Albert, Fort Saskatchewan, Leduc, Beaumont, Spruce Grove or Stony Plain.

Club Supplied Equipment: Equipment use is included in the registration fees for athletes. SWEMFA provides each athlete the use of an equipment bag, helmet, shoulder pads, practice pants, game pants, and games jerseys (2x). Each player is supplied an athletic T-Shirt, practice jersey, padded girdle, game socks and mouthguard that are players to keep.

Dates for equipment handout will be communicated after registration. A credit card authorization form in the amount of $500.00 must be completed at equipment handout.  The credit card will only be charged if the equipment is not returned in a clean and satisfactory condition or if there are outstanding funds due.

Player Supplied Equipment: While we do supply players simple mouthguards, it is recommended players purchase a good quality mouthguard for their own protection. Players are also required to supply their own football or similar cleats (no metal cleats).

No experience is required and there are no cuts made.

Registrations may be capped to maintain acceptable roster sizes.
